How to link Instagram to a Facebook Page

To link Instagram to a Facebook Page, open Instagram, go to your profile, tap Edit profile, then Page, then Connect or create, log in to Facebook and choose your Page. You can also do it from Facebook: switch into your Page, open Settings & privacy, Settings, Linked accounts, Instagram, and click Connect account. Your Instagram needs to be a professional (business or creator) account and you need full control of the Page. Once they're linked, you can answer Instagram comments and DMs from Meta Business Suite, run Instagram ads from your Page and connect tools like Paperflower. Below are the steps for each way, what you need first, and fixes for the usual problems.

Updated 25 October 2026

Before you start

  • A professional Instagram account (business or creator). If yours is personal, Instagram asks you to switch during linking, and your account becomes public.
  • Full control of the Facebook Page.
  • If you use a business portfolio (Business Manager), the Instagram account and the Page need to be in the same portfolio. An Instagram account can only be in one portfolio at a time.
  • The login for the personal Facebook profile that manages the Page, because Meta asks you to confirm it.

Link from the Instagram app

  1. Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right.
  2. Tap Edit profile.
  3. Scroll to Public business information (business account) or Profile information (creator account).
  4. Tap Page, then Connect or create, then Continue.
  5. Tap Login to Facebook and check it's the right Facebook account (tap Switch Facebook account if not).
  6. Choose your Page and tap Connect. No Page yet? Tap Create a new Facebook Page.

Link from Facebook

  1. Log in to Facebook on a computer and click your profile photo in the top right.
  2. Click See all profiles and switch into your Page.
  3. Click the Page's profile picture in the top right, then Settings & privacy, then Settings.
  4. Under Permissions, click Linked accounts, then Instagram.
  5. Click Connect account and follow the steps. If asked, allow access to Instagram messages in your inbox so you can answer DMs from Facebook too.

Add Instagram to Meta Business Suite

  1. In Meta Business Suite on a computer, go to Settings for your business portfolio.
  2. Under Accounts, click Instagram accounts, then Add.
  3. Click Add Instagram account, log in with your Instagram username and password, and enter your two-factor code if you use one.
  4. Click Confirm. If your Instagram is personal, you'll be asked to switch to a professional account.
  5. This puts Instagram in the same business portfolio as your Page and ad accounts. If it isn't linked to the Page yet, link it using either of the ways above.

What changes once they're linked

  • You can read and answer Instagram comments and DMs from your Page's inbox in Meta Business Suite, alongside Facebook.
  • People with access to the Page can create Instagram ads from Facebook and manage the comments on them.
  • You can share posts and stories between Instagram and the Page.
  • Anyone with access to either the Page or the Instagram account can manage both, so check who has access.
  • Your Instagram posts can only be shared to that one Page, not to another Page or a personal profile.
  • The connection between your Page and Instagram may be visible to others.

Linking to a Page is not the same as Accounts Centre

Instagram's Accounts Centre connects accounts you own, like your personal Facebook profile and Instagram, so you can log in and share across them. That doesn't connect your business Page. For business tools, ads and a shared inbox, connect the Instagram account to the Facebook Page using the steps above.

When Instagram won't link to your Facebook Page

  • The Page doesn't show in the list: you're probably logged in to a Facebook profile without full control of the Page. Tap Switch Facebook account, or ask the Page's admin to give you full control.
  • It says the account is in another business portfolio: remove the Instagram account from the old portfolio, then add it to the portfolio that has your Page.
  • Your Instagram is personal: switch to a professional account first (or accept the prompt during linking).
  • Wrong Page connected: on Instagram go to Edit profile, Page, Disconnect Page, then connect the right one. On Facebook use Linked accounts, Instagram, Disconnect account.
  • Meta Verified: disconnecting a Page and Instagram account that share a Meta Verified subscription can cancel the subscription, so check before you switch.

Why a shop should link them

Most buying questions arrive as Instagram comments and DMs, often under your ads. Linking Instagram to your Page is what lets one inbox, your ads and customer service tools see all of it. Paperflower connects through your Facebook Page, so your Instagram professional account needs to be linked to the Page first; then every Instagram and Facebook comment and DM lands in one list with your support email, and on Standard, buying questions come first with a reply drafted. Public comment replies are never posted by Paperflower: it copies the reply and opens the comment so you post it yourself. See how Instagram comments work in Paperflower.

How Paperflower is different

Comments are a sales channel, not a chore

Most tools treat comments as noise. Paperflower reads every one, spots buying questions like “do you ship to NZ?” and makes sure they get answered before the customer moves on.

Buying Intent and Opportunity Score

Every conversation gets a score so the people ready to buy come first. You see who to reply to now, and who can wait.

Shopify context in every draft

Order status, shipping and product details are pulled in automatically, so drafts are right the first time and private order details never go out in public.

You stay in control

AI drafts are on and auto-send is off by default. Complaints are escalated to you. Refunds and cancellations always need a human.

Simple pricing

Paperflower starts free with 100 customer interactions a month, no card needed: every message in one list, and you write the replies. AI sorting, reply drafts and spam hiding come with Standard, which is A$47 a month for 3,000 customer interactions, with a 7-day free trial. Human replies are always free. See all plans.

Built for AU and NZ brands

Local time zones, local shipping questions, and support from people who know the market.

Frequently asked questions

In Instagram, go to Profile, Edit profile, Page, Connect or create, log in to Facebook and choose your Page. Or on Facebook, switch into your Page and go to Settings & privacy, Settings, Linked accounts, Instagram, Connect account.

You need a professional account, which can be business or creator. If you start with a personal account, Instagram prompts you to switch during linking, and the account becomes public.

No. A professional Instagram account connects to one Page at a time, and your Instagram posts can only be shared to that Page. To change it, disconnect the Page and connect the new one.

Usually the Facebook profile you logged in with doesn't have full control of the Page. Switch Facebook account during linking, or ask the Page admin to give your profile full control.

Not unless you turn that on. By default it drafts a reply and you approve it. You can switch on auto-send for simple, safe questions once you trust the drafts.

Instagram, Facebook and TikTok comments and DMs, support email through Gmail or Google Workspace, and Shopify for order details.

Yes. The Free plan is the basics: 100 customer interactions a month in one list, no card needed, and you write each reply. Standard adds AI sorting, reply drafts and spam hiding, and comes with a 7-day free trial. You can cancel any time. Compare plans.
