How to add an admin to a Facebook Page

To add an admin to a Facebook Page, switch into your Page, click the Page's profile picture, then Settings & privacy, Settings, Page setup, Page access. Next to People with Facebook access, click Add new, search for the person, turn on Allow this person to have full control, click Give access and enter your password. They then accept the invite. You need full control of the Page yourself. If the Page is in a business portfolio, do it in Meta Business Suite instead: Settings, Pages, choose the Page, Assign people. For most of a shop's team, partial or task access is safer than full control. Below are the steps, the access types, and how to remove someone.

The types of Facebook Page access

Facebook access with full control (admin)

Everything: posts, messages, comments, ads, insights, settings, linked accounts like Instagram, and who has access. They can remove anyone, including you, or delete the Page.

Facebook access with partial control

Can switch into the Page and post, reply to messages and comments, run ads and see insights, but can't change settings or who has access.

Task access

Works from Meta Business Suite or Ads Manager without switching into the Page: content, messages and comments, ads and insights, depending on the tasks you pick.

Community Manager

Moderates live stream chats only: delete or report comments, pin comments and suspend or ban people from live chat.

How to add an admin to a Facebook Page

  1. Log in to Facebook, click your profile photo in the top right, then See all profiles, and switch into your Page.
  2. Click the Page's profile picture in the top right, then Settings & privacy, then Settings.
  3. Click Page setup, then Page access.
  4. Next to People with Facebook access, click Add new.
  5. Search for the person by name or email and select them.
  6. Turn on Allow this person to have full control to make them an admin, or leave it off for partial control.
  7. Click Give access and enter your Facebook password to confirm. They get an invite and must accept it before they have access.

How to give someone task access instead

  1. Follow the same steps to Page access.
  2. Next to People with task access, click Add new.
  3. Choose the person and the tasks they need, such as messages and community activity for customer service.
  4. Click Give access and confirm with your password.

If your Page is in a business portfolio (Meta Business Suite)

Pages in a business portfolio are managed from Meta Business Suite, and access levels are named a little differently. The person needs to be in the portfolio first.

  1. Add the person to the portfolio: in Meta Business Suite go to Settings, People, Invite people, enter the email of their Facebook account, choose their permissions and the assets they need, then Invite. They accept the invitation.
  2. Give them the Page: go to Settings, under Profiles click Pages, select the Page and click Assign people.
  3. Select the person and choose partial access (business tools only), partial access (business tools and Facebook) or full access. For business tools only, tick the tasks they need.
  4. Click Assign.

How to remove an admin from a Facebook Page

  • On Facebook: switch into the Page, go to Settings & privacy, Settings, Page setup, Page access, find the person, open the menu next to their name and choose Remove access, then confirm.
  • In a business portfolio: open Meta Business Suite settings, go to the Page's people list and remove the person, or remove them from the portfolio if they've left the business.
  • You need full control to remove someone. Anyone with full control can also remove you, so check who has it.
  • A Page must always have at least one person with full control. If nobody has it, Meta deactivates the Page and schedules it for deletion.

Who on a shop's team should have what

Owner

Full control, with two-factor authentication on your Facebook account.

One trusted backup

Full control too, so the Page isn't lost if the owner's account is locked.

Customer service

Partial control or task access for messages and comments. Enough to answer customers, not to change settings or remove people.

Contractors and agencies

Task access for what they do (content or ads), or partner access through your business portfolio. Remove it when the work ends.

Instagram access comes with the Page

Once your Instagram professional account is linked to the Page, people with Page access can be allowed to read and answer Instagram comments and DMs from the Page's inbox, and people with full control can manage access to the linked Instagram account too. See how to link Instagram to a Facebook Page and how to set up an Instagram business account.

Answering customers as a team

Giving everyone Page access is the first step; the next is not missing anything. Paperflower connects through the Pages your Facebook login manages, so the person who connects it needs access to the Page. After that, every Facebook and Instagram comment and DM sits in one list with your support email and Shopify orders, and on Standard buying questions come first with a reply drafted. Public comment replies are never posted by Paperflower: it copies the reply and opens the comment so you post it yourself. See our social media customer service playbook.

How Paperflower is different

Comments are a sales channel, not a chore

Most tools treat comments as noise. Paperflower reads every one, spots buying questions like “do you ship to NZ?” and makes sure they get answered before the customer moves on.

Buying Intent and Opportunity Score

Every conversation gets a score so the people ready to buy come first. You see who to reply to now, and who can wait.

Shopify context in every draft

Order status, shipping and product details are pulled in automatically, so drafts are right the first time and private order details never go out in public.

You stay in control

AI drafts are on and auto-send is off by default. Complaints are escalated to you. Refunds and cancellations always need a human.

Simple pricing

Paperflower starts free with 100 customer interactions a month, no card needed: every message in one list, and you write the replies. AI sorting, reply drafts and spam hiding come with Standard, which is A$47 a month for 3,000 customer interactions, with a 7-day free trial. Human replies are always free. See all plans.

Built for AU and NZ brands

Local time zones, local shipping questions, and support from people who know the market.

Usually because you don't have full control yourself, or the Page is in a business portfolio, in which case you manage access in Meta Business Suite under Settings, Pages, Assign people. The person also has to accept the invite before they appear.

Both can post, answer messages and comments, run ads and see insights. Full control can also change settings, manage who has access and delete the Page; partial control can't.

Yes. Full control gives the same access as you, including removing you or deleting the Page, so only give it to people you trust completely.

Not unless you turn that on. By default it drafts a reply and you approve it. You can switch on auto-send for simple, safe questions once you trust the drafts.

Instagram, Facebook and TikTok comments and DMs, support email through Gmail or Google Workspace, and Shopify for order details.

Yes. The Free plan is the basics: 100 customer interactions a month in one list, no card needed, and you write each reply. Standard adds AI sorting, reply drafts and spam hiding, and comes with a 7-day free trial. You can cancel any time. Compare plans.
