How to create a Facebook business Page

To create a Facebook business Page, log in to Facebook, click Pages on the left, then Create Page, choose Public Page and click Next, then Get Started. Add your Page name (your shop's name) and a category, an optional bio, and click Create Page. Then add your contact details, location and hours, upload a profile picture and cover photo, set the action button, and choose your notifications. It's free, and you need a Facebook account to create and manage the Page. Below are the steps, what to put in each field for an online store, and what to set up straight after, from linking Instagram to giving your team access.

What to put in each field for an online store

Page name

Your shop's name exactly as customers know it, the same as your Instagram and website. Skip extra keywords.

Category

Pick what you sell, for example a clothing brand or a shopping and retail category. You can change it later.

Bio

One line on what you sell and who for, plus 'Ships Australia-wide' or 'Ships to AU and NZ'.

Contact info

Your website, a support email you check, and a phone number only if someone answers it. Online-only shops can leave the address off.

Hours

Your customer service hours, so people know when to expect a reply.

Photos

Your logo as the profile picture (it shows small, so keep it simple) and a product or lifestyle shot as the cover.

Action button

Shop now (linking to your store) or Send message. Pick the one you want most customers to do.

What to set up straight after

  1. Link your Instagram account so comments and DMs from both apps can be answered in one inbox. See how to link Instagram to a Facebook Page and how to set up an Instagram business account.
  2. Add a trusted backup with full control, and give staff partial or task access. See how to add an admin to a Facebook Page.
  3. Turn on Messenger auto replies (an instant reply and an away message). See Facebook Messenger auto replies.
  4. Set up comment moderation to hide spam and offensive words. See how to turn off or limit comments on Facebook.
  5. Write a short FAQ and your shipping and returns answers, so replies are quick and consistent. See FAQ page examples.

Good to know

  • Pages are for businesses, brands and public figures. They're different from a personal profile with Pro mode turned on and from Facebook Groups.
  • Anyone with a Facebook account can create a Page, and anyone you give access to can help manage it.
  • Creating a Page and using its tools is free. You only pay if you run ads or boost posts.
  • People who follow your Page see its updates in their Feed.
  • A Page always needs at least one person with full control, so add a backup admin early.

Why the Page matters even if you sell on Instagram

For most Australian and New Zealand shops, the Page is the hub Meta's business tools hang off: Instagram ads, Meta Business Suite's inbox and apps that answer customers all connect through it. Comments under your ads often come through the Page too, and they're where buying questions like 'do you ship to NZ?' and 'is this in stock?' end up.

Never miss a message on your new Page

Once your Page is set up, Paperflower connects through it and puts every Facebook and Instagram comment and DM in one list with your support email and Shopify orders. On Standard, buying questions come first with a reply drafted and spam is hidden for you. You press Send for DMs and emails; public comment replies are never posted by Paperflower: it copies the reply and opens the comment so you post it yourself. Paperflower starts free. See how DMs work.

How Paperflower is different

Comments are a sales channel, not a chore

Most tools treat comments as noise. Paperflower reads every one, spots buying questions like “do you ship to NZ?” and makes sure they get answered before the customer moves on.

Buying Intent and Opportunity Score

Every conversation gets a score so the people ready to buy come first. You see who to reply to now, and who can wait.

Shopify context in every draft

Order status, shipping and product details are pulled in automatically, so drafts are right the first time and private order details never go out in public.

You stay in control

AI drafts are on and auto-send is off by default. Complaints are escalated to you. Refunds and cancellations always need a human.

Simple pricing

Paperflower starts free with 100 customer interactions a month, no card needed: every message in one list, and you write the replies. AI sorting, reply drafts and spam hiding come with Standard, which is A$47 a month for 3,000 customer interactions, with a 7-day free trial. Human replies are always free. See all plans.

Built for AU and NZ brands

Local time zones, local shipping questions, and support from people who know the market.
